About Me

My photo
Hi, my name is Patricia Pate. I live in small town Alabama with my husband, oldest daughter, 3 dogs, and 3 cats. I'm passionate about God, my family, reading, crocheting, my health, and life in general. I will be blogging about my life, and anything that comes to mind really. I will also be blogging book reviews. I get some Advanced Reader Copies to review from NetGally, and publisher lists, and I also join book launch teams to help spread the word about upcoming books. Some books aren't released to the public yet, and some have been released. I hope you enjoy my blog, I promise you it will make you think, make you cry, make you laugh, and probably make you think I am completely crazy.

I Can’t Believe It’s Been 4 Years!

Wow! It’s been almost 4 years since I have posted anything. Those 4 years have been busy, and crazy as usual.  For one thing, we moved. Then we bought a house and moved again. We have been in our house almost a year now. We really enjoy this little community God has placed us in and look forward to what God has planned for us here. Another thing that has changed is that I have lost over 100 lbs. I still have about 45 lbs to lose, but I have come so far. I have taken Ozempic, and Mounjaro, and I have changed my eating habits. My doctor put me on Ozempic to help with the high blood sugar issues I was fighting. I thought it was causing some gastrointestinal issues so we switched to the Mounjaro. In November of 2023 I was diagnosed with celiac disease. That is what was causing the gastrointestinal issues, not the Ozempic. Now I’m learning I also have other food intolerances that are causing issues. But I’m working on eliminating the offending foods and, hopefully will start to feel better soon. My health is so much better than it was. I haven’t had to have my trachea dilated in over 2 years. I have more energy, still not great but definitely better, and I can do so much more than I used to be able to do. My husband and I went to Tybee Island this past April. It was amazing and I highly recommend it. This is the first vacation that I can remember actually being able to enjoy myself on.

Honestly, I had completely forgotten about this blog. I would remember it every now and then, but it mostly lived in the back of my mind and I didn’t really think about it.  I was reading a book, Authentically Anchored by Shonda Ramsey(It is releasing TOMORROW!, July 30, 2024, It is such a great book and I highly recommend that you get it and read it) and a chapter was talking about rediscovering your passions. Among my many passions is writing, non-fiction writing to be exact. So I went looking for my old blog, found it, then went to reading through my past posts. One of my first thoughts was, “ wow I still have so far to go!” Because I am still struggling with some of the issues that I was struggling with 4, 5, 6 years ago. But then another thought was “wow I have come a long way!” Because I have. Even in those issues I’m still struggling with, that I was struggling with back then, I have made progress. In some ways I have made quite a bit of progress, like my health. I told a friend the other day that’s it’s important to look back sometimes and see how far you have actually come. You know sometimes I feel like my progress is 3 steps forward and 1 step back. I get so frustrated because of the step backs. But I remind myself that it’s still progress, even if it’s slow progress. I just have to remember to give myself the grace that I would give others.

That’s the past 4 years in a nutshell. I plan to update this blog more often than every 4 years now. I will keep you all updated on the books I read that make a huge impact on my life, on events or people that make an impact on my life, and just life itself. I hope you enjoy my blog. Feel free to look back and read my previous blog posts. Until next time remember there is ALWAYS beauty in the ashes.
